Lemon and Dill Mayonnaise and Lemongrass, Kaffir Lime and Chilli Mayonnaise have both won silver medals , while Mango Chilli and Coriander Dressing also collected a Bronze.

In case you are wondering how food is judged in a food show,  here’s the process…… we send 3 of each entry – stripped of  any commercial labelling, and only wearing a label that names the product. All entries for a particular category are placed before the judges who sample each product and give it a score based on the criteria of taste and eating quality/texture/visual/ flavour profile. Scores are added and medals awarded for Gold (90 +points/100) Silver (82-90/100) Bronze (74-82/100). There’s no set number of medals awarded, so if there are no products reaching the medal scores, then no medals are awarded. And there can be more than one of each medal given – it’s all about the individual score that your product receives.

It’s a strict process and the Royal Agricultural Society looks to both exhibitors and judges to ensure that an “Award at the Royal” is always an award to be valued as a mark of High Distinction. And that is why we are so proud of the medals that we win.

A couple of years ago Ron and Christine Bell set up shop in the permanent section of the market (clever idea as pouring rain always upsets a good market day). They call themselves Pantry on the Square –  what a pantry !! You can actually try ALL of the Simply Stirred products in the store before you buy and they have just about got the complete range available.  It’s all set out beautifully, and clearly labeled so you can see what you are trying, and Ron and Christine are ready with heaps of serving suggestions.  They can even put a gift pack together for you if you want to take something home for a friend.

From our point of view this is a store in a million. They do our products proud and each week I look forward to Ron’s regular call to place his order and update us on how the markets went this week.

Eumundi Markets :  WHERE: The historic hinterland township of Eumundi  is 20 kms west of Noosa Heads on the Sunshine Coast.  The Markets are held in the centre of town – on Memorial Drive.

Saturdays 6.30am – 2pm

With our mayonnaise range only launched late in 2010, a food show is a great chance to measure your product against a high standard, so off the samples went to Hobart.  Amongst hundreds of products we snared a medal for each of the five new mayonnaise flavours. (We sent 4 other products just for fun and won a medal for each one of these as well !! )

If you want the GOLD medal winners go for the ever-popular Roasted Garlic Aioili or Lime Chilli and Coriander : Both a perfect choice with seafood.  Our silver medal winner was the smooth and tasty Lemon and Dill, with Red Capsicum and Coriander and Lemongrass, Kaffir Lime and Chilli both taking out  the bronze medals.

You will find some interesting recipe ideas in the mayonnaise section and with spring upon us, what better time to experiment !
